LINKIN PARK's CHESTER BENNINGTON Says Outdoor Festivals Have Killed The Rock And Roll Live Experience

According to The Pulse Of Radio, LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington has revealed that he is not a fan of outdoor festivals. Speaking with NME, Bennington said that he prefers playing indoors, explaining, "Rock 'n' roll is not meant to be played with the sun shining on your face. It can be done, but it's done begrudgingly because we’re forced to do it. I think the outdoor festival has killed the live experience a little bit."

He added, "The whole idea of seeing a rock band is to be in a dark place and to be part of the show. When you’re sitting on the grass and the sun is shining it doesn’t matter. You’re just up there playing songs. Inside, dark, lights, controlled environment — always better."

Unfortunately for Chester, LINKIN PARK's next batch of gigs are almost all outdoors, starting at Petco Park in San Diego on July 24 during the annual Comic-Con fan culture event.

After that, the band will hit sheds and amphitheaters on the "Carnivores Tour" with 30 SECONDS TO MARS and AFI, beginning on August 8 in West Palm Beach, Florida. At least they'll be playing at night.

LINKIN PARK's new album, "The Hunting Party", arrived on June 17 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart.
